Tonight marks the first game of a three game series. O’Sullivan (3.68 ERA) will take the mound against Max Scherzer (1.75 ERA). The Nationals are nursing a five game winning streak while the Phillies come to town after a loss to the Colorado Rockies (3-7 score).
This will be the third time these two teams will meet. The first time they met the Phillies took two of the three games and the Nationals too three of the four games in their second meeting.
What to expect:
Against O’Sullivan the star players to watch will be Bryce Harper and Danny Espinosa. There will be at least one other player that will stand out and help the Nats battle the Phillies.
Against Scherzer the star players to watch for will be Odubel Herrera and perhaps Andres Blanco and/or Cesar Hernandez. With Scherzer pitching so well it will be tough for the Phillies to gain any advantage.
The Nationals only have a .5 game lead on the Mets in the National League East and will look to expand that lead tonight. This series will be a good series to watch.
Good luck Nats players and staff!
